Christmas, Radiothon and Holidays

As Secretary, I receive the letters. Yesterday at the Board meeting I regretfully had to read a letter of resignation from our chairman Steve Ventrella. Many know that Steve is relocating his business and that combined with family and work commitments meant that Steve felt that it was unprofessional to continue with his current responsibilities as chairman. He hopes to be able to do more in the future. The Board thanked Steve for his enthusiasm and wished him well.

A casual vacancy on the Board was offered to Ben Hollist who was on the voting paper for director at the August AGM. He has accepted the position and will join the Board for its December meeting.

A Christmas get together is being planned for 3rd December. A number of members have suggested that we bring food that represents the culture of particular programs. The Arabic connection is already well known for the array of food they contribute to happenings at the station. Please start thinking about what you might bring. Drinks will be provided by the station.

Fun was had by all when Angelina Rossi held a Touch of Italy luncheon last Thursday. Pizza, pasta and live music were enjoyed by all. Listeners got to bond.

The Assyrian Church of the East Relief Organisation will be holding a radio-thon on Sunday 4th December between 6pm and 11pm. The organisation is raising funds assist those who have fled from their ancestral homelands and are seeking refuge in Australia. They sponsor the education of primary and secondary school students by purchasing uniforms and educational items. The organisation also provides for an “influx of assistance required throughout the Christmas period.”

Let’s get behind them and support the event by letting listeners know about the Radio-thon on 4th December. Donations to the cause are welcome.

Now would be a good time to consider what you are doing over the holiday period. Do you need to pre-record a program? If so now would be a good time to book some studio time. If you need any help please contact us. If you know your plans please email them office@893fm and you can go on the holiday planner.

The breakout room is being kept tidy. It appears individuals are washing cups and looking after things. We have acquired a full tea set including tea pot from a kind benefactor. Please feel free to make a real cuppa in a real pot.
