Fairfield police commander Superintendent Peter Lennon will host the fifth Coffee With A Cop event to give residents the chance to engage with local police this month.

Fairfield officers will meet with residents at The Coffee Emporium at Stockland Wetherill Park to chat with residents.

“It’s a community engagement idea,” Superintendent Lennon said.

“We mingle with the people and shout them a cup of coffee or tea.”

Fairfield Champion reported that Superintendent Lennon said the day is a chance for residents to have a chat about what’s going on in their local area and to bring up any concerns.

And it’s just as important to get to know one another.

“It’s just a gesture of goodwill on my behalf,” Superintendent Lennon said.

“It’s a chance for police to introduce themselves.

“Police officers are just normal human beings with a special job to do.”

Half a dozen police officers usually attend the event and sit at separate tables to meet people.

Muslim chaplain Sheik Ahmed Abdo and the Reverend George Habib will also attend the event for the first time.
