Cindy-Lu Fitzpatrick will speak at Liverpool City Library on Wednesday, December 3 at 1pm.
On the International Day of People with a Disability, Liverpool-born champion swimmer, Cindy-Lu Fitzpatrick OAM, will present a talk on her life journey.
Cindy-Lu claimed national titles in the 100 and 200 metres breaststroke in the 1980s and represented Australia at two Commonwealth Games and two Pan Pacific Games, despite profound deafness.
In 1985 she was awarded the Order of Australia medal for her contribution to sport and people with disabilities.
The swimmer represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games and claimed National titles for breaststroke in the 1980’s despite profound deafness.
She was also awarded the Australian Sports Award in the category of Junior Sportswomen, and now teaches Australian sign language at the University of New England.
