Wanderers & Jets Draw 1-1

Western Sydney will remain at the bottom the A-league ladder after a 1-1 draw against the Newcastle Jets at Parramatta Stadium tonight.

A month after winning the Asian Championship it is a surprise to think the Wanderers played their first bottom of the ladder clash in the short history of the club.

Tomi Juric secured the first goal of the match in the 12th minute converting a cross from Vitor Saba.

Newcastle responded by going on the attack to secure the equaliser in the 30th minute with Marcos Flores getting his first goal of the season. It is the first goal the Wanderers have conceded at home in 231 calendar days, 7 matches or 685 minutes of playing time depending on your statistical preference.

The second half was a tough battle for both sides and Western Sydney able to put some pressure on the Jets but not enough to break the strong defence.

Overall, both sides had equal possession. Western Sydney had twice as many chances and the ball in their half slightly more often. Tomi Juric was easily the man of the match and unlucky to take home the match winner.

The Wanderers will get a rare luxury of a full week before another three game week starting with another instalment of the Sydney Derby at home next Saturday Night.

However, the Wanderers remain at the bottom of the A-league ladder with 2 points and a unplayed game.

Another highlight of the match, was the Wanderers support of White Ribbon Day with the team playing their white away strip instead of their traditional red and black strip. Fans also joined wearing white shirts over their Wanderers gear.
