Carla Filipakis and Katrine Oliveri are holding the Pink Ribbon lunch on October 14 to raise money for the Cancer Council’s breast cancer cause.
Fairfield Advance reported that are invited to dress up and wear pink for a good cause at a Ladies Like To Lunch fundraiser at Wetherill Park.
The pair recently formed the fundraising initiative Ladies Like To Lunch and are inviting the community to support their event at Grano restaurant from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
They said women should get together and wear pink for the cause.
“Men seem to do the power lunch … especially in our area, they get together and network,” said Mrs Oliveri, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor.
“Seeing the effects of it first-hand makes it a little bit more personal,” she said. “Money put into research so they can find cures or assist in the slightest way — it makes life easier.”
Mrs Filipakis said it will be a day of feasting. “(There is) beautiful food, and we’ll be having raffles and prizes,” she said.
Tickets are $50 each and include a three-course lunch, tea, coffee and soft drinks.
