Fairfield Advance reported that focusing on infrastructure projects and the installation of CCTV cameras throughout Fairfield City are among the goals of new deputy mayor Ninos Khoshaba and the council.
Cr Khoshaba, 44, said during his 12-month term he and the council were keen to focus on infrastructure projects including the city’s adventure and water parks and the redevelopment of Dutton Lane.
“We have a whole heap of projects that we really need to get completed on time and on budget,” he said.
Cr Khoshaba said he looked forward to working with Mayor Frank Carbone and the other councillors.
“Being elected to any public role is an honour, but to be elected to a position like this by your colleagues is a sign of trust,” he said.
Cr Khoshaba replaced George Barcha, who said he did not contest the election because he wanted to give other councillors a chance to contribute to the council.
“The more people that contribute to a certain position, the better,’’ he said.
Cr Khoshaba was the Smithfield state Labor MP from 2007 until 2011.
