Western Sydney have secured second place following a dramatic 3-2 win over Melbourne Heart tonight in Melbourne. The win ensures a home semi-final and a week off after finishing second on the ladder.
The Wanderers left it until the death to claim the win with two goals inside the last ten minutes securing the win for Tony Popvic side. Youssouf Hersi scored the game winning goal with just four minutes of regulation time left after fellow substitute Brendon Santalab equalised the match just five minutes earlier.
Nikolai Topor-Stanley opened the scoring in the 27 minute after Shinji Ono delivered a corner which the captain heading the ball into the back of the net. Melbourne quickly responded with a goal from Orlando Engelaar 7 minutes later. The scored remained level at half time. Jason Hoffman scored the other goal for the Heart in 72 minute.
The Wanderers won’t get the full benefit of the week off with two Asian Championship matches before their first finals appearance.
