The Wanderers matched competition leaders the Brisbane Roar with a 1-all draw in a thrilling match at Parramatta tonight. The tough foul ridden match that went down to the wire with the two best teams of the A-league.

Coach Tony Popovic picked his best side from his roster to match the top of the ladder Brisbane Roar in the important top of the ladder clash. The Wanderers started strongly attacking the against the Roar hoping to score an early goal but Brisbane were able to resist by slowing the place down of the game.

Brisbane had a lucky break cracking the Wanderers defensive line just 13 minutes into the match with Berisha securing the first goal of the match.

A foul ridden first half kept the crowd focus on the referee with 27 fouls almost evenly split between both sides. The home crowd was brutal in their criticism of referee Kris Griffiths-Jones. Even Wanderers coach Tony Popovic had a heated conversation on the sideline.

After the half time break the home side came back with vengeance dominating all the shots, corners and possession with Brisbane struggling to come back. The Roar were able to defend the consistent attack and the Wanderers mistimed some critical crosses.

The Wanderers finally secured goal with Haliti levelling the score line in the 85 minute to level the score pleasing the 16,500 strong crowd.

The Wanderers have maintained their excellent record against Brisbane, with their only loss coming in Brisbane earlier this season, and with several key players missing.

With just ten games left in the season and the Roar remain six points in front after tonight’s match. The Wanderers are not far from the Roar’s tail and both sides are almost certain bets for the finals series.

The Wanderers will have a week off with a bye before travelling to Perth to take on the Glory.
