Forgotten Tragedy

Ahmed Ali Jafari was a Refugee living in Villawood Detention Center who died of a heart attack earlier this year.
He was 26 years old.
Though there were many questions raised concerning the circumstances of his death when it first occurred, today Ahemed’S death is all but forgotten.
Yet the memory of the man who spent his short life looking for a home lives on in the hearts and minds of the people he shared his last days with.
Safdar Ahmed is a friend of 2GLF and the Director of the Refugee Art Project that aims to bring color to the lives of refugees by visiting them and teaching them to create art.
Safadar spoke to me earlier this week about his desire to bring attention to Ahmed’s death and the fact that his story is one he has heard too many times.
