Hundreds of local residents rallied against the proposed Moorebank Intermodel terminal at Casula Powerhouse on Sunday.

Local residents are hoping their voices will be heard during the current Federal Election campaign. Both major parities support the proposal at a Federal level and neither is promising change after Saturday’s election.

The protesters heard about the effects of the project on the local community and the nearby Casula Powerhouse. Mayor Ned Mannoun addressed the rally urging residents to sign the petition to ensure their voices are heard. The Liberal controlled Liverpool Council opposes the project and supported the rally.

In recent weeks the Federal Government has started the process to compulsory acquire land from the Council that is set aside for the Casula Parklands near the Casula Powerhouse to build a rail line across the Georges River to the terminal.
