Police have charged a woman after she claimed to be the victim of a fictitious assault and robbery in Sydney’s southwest earlier this month.
The 42-year-old woman made a report to police she had allegedly been attacked and robbed by two women as she walked through Hart Park in Warwick Farm on Wednesday 7 August.
The woman claimed her handbag was stolen before she was pushed to the ground and stomped on.
Police from Liverpool Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following that investigation, police again interviewed the woman yesterday.
During the interview, the woman allegedly made admissions that the robbery never occurred.
Police subsequently charged her with making a false representation resulting in a police investigation.
The woman was issued with a future court attendance and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday 1 October.
