With the next training classes starting January 28th 2013, it’s time to start thinking about the training you or your group will require in the coming year. This applies to both new and existing presenters.
New Presenter Training
Whether you’ve recently joined the station, a long-time member – not yet a presenter, or you’re with a group that needs another panel operator; this training is for you.
The previous training classes ran on Saturdays for the theory sessions and a weeknight for the practical sessions. The course starting in January will be held on weeknights to accommodate those
who can’t make weekends due to other commitments.
There will be 1 theory and 1 practical studio session each week. You’ll need to commit to 2 sessions a week for 8 weeks. Theory sessions will be held over 8 consecutive Monday nights and practical
sessions over the additional weeknight (which will be decided by the trainers and the group) over the same 8 weeks. All sessions are compulsory to be able to fill in, panel or apply for a program.
If you wish to be considered for Recognition of Prior Learning contact Carol at the Office email address and detail the experience you will be seeking recognition for.
The theory training classes cover the basics you need to know to be able to produce a successful radio program including Program Preparation, Presentation Skills, Interviewing, and Media Law. The
practical classes will include the operation of the new Lawo Digital Consoles, Simian Automation System for Play-Out and Voice Tracking.
There are limited places so please RSVP early. Email Carol at the office to secure your place.
Note: You need to confirm your attendance even if you have previous expressed interest in training.
We are also planning to hold another weekend course later in 2013.
Existing Presenter Training
We are also seeking expressions of interest from existing presenters for short courses in the following areas:
• Simian Automation System operation
• Pre-recording and Voice-tracking (New topic)
• Panel training refresher
• Panel Training conversion course if you were trained at the old studios
• Telephone operation and the 7 Second Delay System
• Media law
All presenters must be familiar with using Simian as it is the only source for sponsorship, CSAs and station IDs that your program needs to play from the new program schedule run sheet. So if you are unsure how to do this – you should express an interest in Simian training.
Email Carol at the office indicating which sessions you are interested in attending and your availability for the classes.
