Local kids will be ready to hit the beach this summer after having taking part in the surf themed school holiday activities at the Liverpool Regional Museum and Liverpool City Library including a free workshop hosted by a Maroubra Lifesaver and an indoor mechanical surfboard.

Liverpool City Council Deputy Mayor, Ned Mannoun, said the free activities are in conjunction with Summers Past: Golden Days in the Sun exhibition.

“Gary Cheer, a Maroubra Lifesaver, will be at the Liverpool Regional Museum talking to kids about surf awareness and safety with lots of fun games and giveaways,” said Mr Mannoun.
Gary’s talk, on the 27 September 2011, will run from 10.30am till 12 noon. Please remember, places are limited, so make sure you reserve a seat.

At Liverpool City Library, children can ride a mechanical surfboard with a scene of a barrel wave crashing behind them on Bondi Beach from 26 September to 11 October.
“Great prizes are up for grabs including a family private lesson worth $350 as well as a runner up prize of a kid’s lesson for two valued at $78.”

To be in the running, all you have to do is upload a photo of yourself riding the mechanical surfboard to Let’s Go Surfing, Bondi’s Facebook page.
